Product map and navigation

The top bar contains three important menus when a course is selected:

  • The course name menu links to Exams, Roster, AI Settings, Access, and Gradebook for the current course.
  • The Exams menu opens an exam in its workflow workspace.
  • The account menu, shown as the signed-in email or initial, links to Organization when applicable, Documentation, Chatbot when Ask Gradebird is available, Account when local account management is enabled, and Sign out.

The selected course is remembered for convenience. Opening a link tied to another course changes the current-course selection to that course.

Course workspace

Open the course-name menu and choose one of these full-page tabs:

Tab Purpose
Exams Create, rename, reorder, delete, and open exams. Each row summarizes draft, canonical version, Print, Scan, Grade, and Report state.
Roster Import a roster, add or edit students, activate or deactivate students, perform bulk actions, and manage sections.
AI Settings Edit course context, grading policy, and the ordered course-agent list.
Access Invite collaborators and manage course roles. The course owner can also permanently delete the course here.
Gradebook View completed canonical-exam scores for active students and export selected LMS-formatted rows.

Creating a course is unavailable to accounts whose only course role is grader.

Exam workflow

Opening an exam displays one horizontal workflow with Build, Print, Scan, Grade, and Reports. These controls remain clickable when a later step is not ready; the destination explains its prerequisite.

  • Build can show the editable Draft or a read-only published version.
  • Print, Scan, Grade, and Reports operate on one read-only published version.
  • The Administration version selector on downstream pages chooses the canonical version. Changing it is consequential: versionless workflow links subsequently resolve to that version.
  • A direct link to a noncanonical downstream version redirects to the current administration version and displays a version notice. It does not silently change the canonical version.
  • The eye icon beside the version selector opens the final preview PDF in a new tab.
  • Back to course returns to the course's Exams workspace.

The small i controls open information about the selected workflow step.

Role-dependent destinations

An instructor or course owner sees the normal course and exam workspaces. A grader sees Grading assignments in the top bar and can open only assigned published questions. A grader's exam overview contains assigned questions, not the instructor's full workflow. Permissions on each question separately control whether the grader may edit its rubric, see student identity, or view an existing AI solution.

Tables can include search, sorting, pagination, and page-length controls. Gradebird remembers those display preferences for the same table in the current browser.
